A 100-MILE cycle ride in memory of Jenny Rooke of Beadlam Grange has raised £6,110 for Saint Catherine’s.

Jenny, who ran Beadlam Grange with her husband Mark, died in February, aged 62, after a short battle with cancer.

Her brother Phil Drewery wanted to support the hospice to thank them for the care they had given Jenny.

He said: “As a family, we were so grateful for the care Jenny received during her few weeks in Saint Catherine’s that it seemed fitting that we should undertake some fundraising so that the charity can continue providing care and support to other people like Jenny.”

Phil was joined by family and friends to take on the 100-mile cycle over two days at the end of August.

He said: “The weekend was enjoyable, despite cycling in extremely hot conditions, and was a perfect way to celebrate the life of the kindest, most generous person, who I am proud to say was my sister Jenny.”

Saint Catherine’s Ryedale area fundraiser Nicky Grunwell said: “A huge thank you to Phil and all the friends and family members who took part in this fabulous event. We are so grateful for their continued support.”
