FOR this month’s feature, Malton Camera Club has chosen six pictures which are a mixture of fun and scenery. “Photography is not all about serious subjects so at our club we take very diverse shots and are not afraid to try new things,” said a spokesman for the club.

“We hope you enjoy seeing our work in the Gazette and if you fancy improving your skills then please come and join us.

“You will be made very welcome at our friendly club.”

Helen Smith - Helen’s new dog enjoys posing for her in the studio or outdoors and he has plenty of personality as can be seen in his natty attire. A bold monochrome landscape shot from Helen has a wild and windswept look to it with the trees nicely framing the Atom Panopticon near Pendle.

Tony Horsfield - This is a view of the Maltings, near West Knapton, in the afternoon autumn sunshine taken from the level crossing at Scampston. A dramatic sky adds to the appeal of the shot.

Angela Farnsworth - Angela’s colourful shot of a robin is making us all think of Christmas especially as it is taken in the snow.

Liz Laing - This autumn colours shot from Liz taken at the Yorkshire Arboretum, near Castle Howard, has some lovely reflections in the lake. Sadly most of the leaves have fallen now but Liz managed to get the shot before the bad weather set in.

Sue Hogarth - This shot of the piers at Whitby has been turned into a sepia effect that adds extra drama and an old worldly feel. It is not often that you get so few people on the pier so you take the opportunity for a shot even if the weather is not ideal.

Malton Camera Club meets every other Friday at Norton Methodist Church rooms from September onwards.
