tHE A64 had now reopened near Malton following a series crash.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage following the collision.

It happened at around 9.34am, today (Wednesday) when a green-coloured Iveco wagon overturned on the eastbound carriageway.

The driver of the wagon was seriously injured and taken to hospital by air ambulance. 

Police enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward to assist the investigation.

In particular, anyone who witnessed the collision, was travelling in the area at the time, or had dash-cam in operation prior to the collision is urged to contact them.

The stretch of road is likely to remain closed until around 4pm this afternoon and motorists are advised to use alternative routes until further notice.

Traffic is being diverted through Malton and there are long delays on the B1248.
