THE Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) have thanked Ryedale volunteers for raising more than £1,800 during Battle of Britain Week.
The Ryedale branch of RAFA raised the donations for the Wing Appeal, which supports former serving RAF personnel and their families.
The collection points were: Helmsley (£389.20), Kirkbymoorside (£191.12), Malton and Norton (£599.56), Pickering (£499.40) and Thornton-le-Dale (£209.92).
The appeal was topped up by collections at Eden Camp Museum, North Yorkshire Moors Railway at Grosmont Station during the wartime weekend and Morrisons in Malton.
Eric Rowsby, the Wing Appeal coordinator, said: “The public and local organisations have been very generous in helping us to raise funds for our veterans and also to provide support for serving personnel.
“We would like to express our thanks to everyone involved.”
The branch will round off their fundraising for 2020 with a Christmas collection in Malton on December 14, hosted by Morrisons.
