A MALTON pub is offering a free lunch for servicemen and women on Remembrance Sunday.
Hayley Coles and Adam Gray, landlords of The Royal Oak, in Market Place, said they wanted to give something back to the local community.
"We are giving each servicemen and women a free Sunday lunch when they visit us after the service on Remembrance Sunday from 12pm-2pm," Hayley said.
"Our reasoning for this is purely to giving something back to our community."
Hayley added: "We have a window display that shows some the servicemen and women who lived in Market Place with their families and in close proximity and never returned home after both the First and Second World War."
"We wanted to appreciate the heroes and also the ones who risk themselves to this day for our safety and wellbeing. We want to ‘thank you all’ , so we hope that people take advantage of our offer and come in with their medals and have a story to share with us all in a day to remember."
The Sunday lunches should be booked in advance by phoning 01653 692122 or visiting the Royal Oak's Facebook page.
