A BID to break a world record at the Ryedale Swim and Fitness Centre in Pickering tomorrow (Thursday) has been postponed.
The centre had planned to attempt to break the world record for the number of people to travel down a water slide in four hours.
Jon Bird, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “We were really looking forward to our world record attempt tomorrow.
"Unfortunately we have had to postpone the event due to some technical issues related to how we verify the world record.
"We want to give ourselves and the swimmers of Ryedale the best possible chance of breaking the record, so have taken the decision to postpone the attempt until the new year.
“We apologise to any local swimmers who had planned to come and join us for the world record attempt.
"We will be offering a free swim session tomorrow between 3pm and 7pm for anyone who’d still like to come and try out our facilities at Ryedale Swim and Fitness Centre and have fun on the slide. We’ll be more determined than ever to break the world record in January.”
