RYEDALE will pay its respects to the fallen servicemen and women on Remembrance Sunday this weekend.
Residents are preparing for a weekend of remembrance with parades, church services and fundraising for the Poppy Appeal.
Here are details of some of the Remembrance Sunday services taking place in Ryedale.
Acklam: The Parish of West Buckrose Holy Communion will take place at the Church of Saint John the Baptist at 9am.
Brompton-by-Sawdon: The annual Act of Remembrance starts at the war memorial on the main road at 10.50am, continuing to the church at 11.05am.
Farndale: Service at St Mary’s Church at 2.30pm.
Helmsley: 10.50am parade from the Market Place, 11am bells, laying of wreaths and service in All Saints Church.
Hovingham: 10.45am outside at the war memorial and then proceeds into All Saints’ Church for the rest of the service
Kirkbymoorside: 10.40am parade from the Moorside Club to the war memorial at All Saints Church for a Service of Remembrance and wreath-laying.
Levisham: Service at 9am at St John the Baptist Church.
Leavening: Service at 10am, led by Louise Hayes, will remember the men and women from Leavening who served in the world wars. The service will be followed by a short act of commemoration at 11am outside church.
Lockton: Service will take place at 10.30am at St Giles Church.
Malton: Memorial service and wreath-laying at the war memorial from 10.50am, followed by a parade.
Norton: A 10am Service of Remembrance, including laying of wreaths by representatives of the community.
Pickering: The Service of Remembrance will take place at 2pm at St Peter and St Paul’s Church with a service dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the war, followed by a parade to the memorial hall where a wreath will be presented.
Slingsby: A Remembrance service will take place at All Saints Church at 10.30am.
Thorpe Bassett: Service at All Saints Church at 9am
West Heslerton: Service at All Saints Church in West Heslerton at 11am.
