A CAR was badly damaged after it was involved in a crash with a HGV on the A1 in North Yorkshire this morning (October 11).
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said it was a "minor collision" which happened at about 5.25am on the northbound carriageway just before the Dishforth turn-off.
"It involved a silver Volkswagen Golf which collided with the rear of a HGV," the spokesman added.
He said the woman driver of the car was uninjured but the vehicle was "extensively damaged" and had to be recovered.
Lanes one and two of the carriageway were closed by the Highways Agency while the incident was dealt with and debris was removed from the road.
The road was clear by around 6.50am.
