ENGLISH folk group The Tappy Lappy quartet is set to hold three days of free half-term workshops at Helmsley Arts Centre.

The group will be on hand to pass on their folk music know-how to 10 to 18-year-olds and will culminate in the young musicians joining the quartet on stage in an evening concert.

The activity is part of Sounding Out, a project led by youth music charity NYMAZ, which aims to provide the county’s young people with more music opportunities.

NYMAZ director Sarah McWatt said: “It’s wonderful to be able to provide these opportunities for young people in North Yorkshire. It’s a great way to find out more about folk music and to develop instrumental and composition techniques and performance skills.”

The workshop takes place from Wednesday, October 30 to Friday, November 1.
