FOR this week’s Way We Were, we have a selection of photos from the MGS Dramatic Society’s production of As You Like It in 1949.
The performance took place outdoors on the grassy area at the front of the old Malton School in Middlecave Road, now the East Wing.
Privet hedging was planted to create the wings and the backdrop; alongside tarpaulin
to avoid the potentially bad weather.
The dramatic society performed a variety of plays between 1940 and 1950, such as Midsummer Night’s Dream and Arms and the Man.
