FROM Billy Elliot to Auf Weidersehen Pet and When the Boat Comes In to The Pitmen Painters, the songs and stories of The Pitmen Poets are coming to the Milton Rooms in Malton next month.

Celebrate the triumphs, tragedy, humour and hard times of the North of England in an evening of music, song and spoken word, illustrated by atmospheric archive photography.

The Pitmen Poets features ex-Lindisfarne singer and writer Billy Mitchell, songman from West End musical Warhorse, Bob Fox, leading exponent of Tyneside song Benny Graham, and songwriter Jez Lowe.

Together they are four of the North East England’s leading champions of the region’s musical heritage.

The show is a Hurricane Promotions event and a further collaboration by the East Yorkshire events company at the Milton Rooms

A spokesperson said: “We are delighted to be bringing this acclaimed show, on an extensive UK tour, to Malton and returning to the Milton Rooms for another successful show. They added: “The show was been receiving some fantastic reviews - the interaction between the guys is fantastic and a joy to watch.
