FROM brass bands to indie bands, enchanting children’s theatre to powerful drama, and protest singers to poet laureates – Pocklington Arts Centre’s (PAC) new Autumn/Winter 2019 programme of live events is one of their most diverse to date.

PAC director Janet Farmer, said: “As PAC approaches its 20th anniversary, with over 7,000 live events, film screenings, live broadcasts, exhibitions, private hires, and community events, we feel that our newest programme really reflects the diversity of all that we have offered audiences over the years and continue to offer.

“From incredible, critically acclaimed theatre to simply outstanding, unrivalled live music, from breath-taking exhibitions to unique workshops, our new programme has something for everyone and is the perfect accompaniment as we gear up for our milestone birthday next year.”

Theatre lovers of all ages are in for a real treat this season as PAC welcomes an array of critically acclaimed productions to the stage, starting with the award-winning Build A Rocket on Thursday, September, 26 at 7.30pm.

Northern Stage brings Sherlock Holmes’ most infamous case The Hound of the Baskervilles to life on Thursday, October, 17, 7.30pm.

Bringing something, a little more light-hearted and family friendly to PAC’s stage is Storm Whale on Wednesday, October 23, a heart-warming production based on the award-winning book of the same name by Benji Davies, brought to you in conjunction with York Theatre Royal.

Children aged four years and over, and their families, can discover the story of Noi who strikes up a friendship with a little whale he rescues from the beach.

Continuing the family friendly theme is one of the world’s best-loved nursery rhymes There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly that will be played out on stage by The People’s Theatre on Thursday October, 31, 2.30pm.

Spend an evening with Poet Laureate Simon Armitage on Thursday, November, 28, 7.30pm when he will be sharing his work, answering questions from the audience, and signing books.

Simon has numerous accolades to his name including the 2018 Queen’s Gold Medal for poetry and an Ivor Novello Award for song-writing and has published 28 collections of poetry.
