A MONTH-long celebration of art will take place this month with a range of events all in aid of St Leonard’s Hospice.
The Sunflower Art Festival will encompass all styles and genres, with a number of community events, workshops and exhibitions happening throughout September.
York Camera Club will be exhibiting at Helmsley Walled Garden this month. The gardens are also having a St Leonard’s Day on September 21, with 50 per cent of entry fees donated to the hospice. There will also be still life sketching and a flower workshop, supported by Malton Flower Club.
Tadcaster-based artist Chub Perkins will also be exhibiting his work at Helmsley Arts Centre from today (Wednesday). You can also take part in chocolate workshops with Ampleforth Plus, a social enterprise and chocolate production centre run by people with autism and other learning disabilities, on September 10, 12 and 24.
Kathryn Craven, the hospice’s corporate and community fundraiser, said: “September is going to be a really exciting month with lots going on for artists, art lovers and those keen to have a go.”
