PICKERING’S Beck Isle Museum holds two collections of photographs relating to the history of Pickering and surrounding area.

These are from the archive of Peter Harris, who worked as a press photographer in the 1970s and 1980s. They include the late Liberal Democrat leader Paddy Ashdown, campaigning with Elizabeth Shields during the by-election in 1986, a Traction Engine Rally in 1979 or 1980, the catering crew at Pickering Feast, 1979. Also featured is Pickering mayor David Baxendall helping Tracey Cooke, aged 13, plant a tree at the new Riverside Walk development in December 1977, a ceremony outside the Liberal Club marking a visit from Pickering’s twin town, Corbie in France, in September 1988.

If you know the names of any of the people on these photographs, email Beck Isle Museum at manager@beckislemuseum.org.uk or phone the museum on 01751 473653.
