FIREFIGHTERS and York Rescue Boat launched an investigation following reports of a man in a York river - only to discover he was a diver.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service tweeted that Acomb crews, the York boat crew and York Rescue Boat had investigated reports of a male in the River Ouse near Clifton Bridge.
"This was a false alarm due to divers in wet suits carrying out training in the water,"it added.
"Better safe than sorry."
