LEAVENING Primary School is extending its provision from September.

The school is opening a governor-led nursery, which will be run by a qualified Level Three practitioner and led and managed by the head teacher Sian Mitchell.

The nursery will be open to three and four-year-old pre-school pupils and will extend the hours it offers to 22 hours a week instead of just 15 hours, with a view to offer the full 30 hours per week over the next year. The nursery will also offer the option to sign up for tax-free child care.

Mrs Mitchell said: “I am delighted the school is able to offer this to the community and my vision is to enable all the nursery aged pupils to be involved with as much of the wider school life as is suitable to enable all nursery pupils to be part of the big school family. The nursery offers high-quality education, excellent social and emotional development opportunities, the highest standards of learning through a play based curriculum and adult led activities, robust assessment and reporting procedures, stunning outdoor facilities and forest schools as part of the curriculum.”
