A HOUSE suffered smoke damage after a shed caught fire on Monday night.

Two fire crews from Scarborough were called to the domestic property in Hoxton Road in the town just after 8.30pm.

The blaze resulted in damage to the 6ft by 4ft shed and six metres of adjacent garden fence.

Heat damage was also caused to the windows, gutters and fascia to the rear of the property and the interior of the house suffered smoke damage.

Crews used one hosereel jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire Service said they believed the cause to be accidental.
