VOLUNTEERS have been working to improve the environment across Ryedale.

Members of The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) have been working with Ryedale District Council (RDC) to try and improve the green space, both for the general public and for wildlife.

A spokesman for TCV said: “Our volunteers were involved in creating wildflower areas by removing the turf and seeding with a special mix of native wildflowers and grasses, as well as planting a fruit tree.

“RDC has asked TCV to look after the area on a biannual basis - which is the normal method for maintaining a wildflower meadow - for the next three years.”

They added: “TCV hope to be bale to secure additional funding to expand the project both within the Riverside View Play area in Norton and across the region.

“We are always looking for more green space projects as well as enthusiastic volunteer support.”
