A RYEDALE school’s cricket teams scored a big win in the first of what is going to be an annual face-off.
Terrington Hall School scooped the inaugural Storey Cup when the school’s U13, U11 and U9 cricket teams played a trio of competitive matches against Scarborough College.
This event is to be an annual contest between the two establishments and is the brainchild of John Green of Yorkshire Cricket, partly in recognition of the role both schools have played in supporting local cricket development.
Three matches were played at Scarborough Cricket Club’s county ground, with the cup being awarded to the school winning two or more of the matches.
Terrington Hall’s head of boys’ sport Alex Crockett said that the Terrington boys recorded wins across all three matches, with the U9 match being particularly tight and going down to the last over.
“The whole day was a superb experience for all the boys and a fantastic opportunity to play on a county ground,” he said.
“I should like to thank Scarborough Cricket Club for their hospitality and for giving the boys a tour of the grounds and pavilion.”
