A VILLAGE’S first-ever summer fair has raised nearly £1,000 towards a defibrillator.
Visitors to Kirby Misperton’s inaugural summer fair made the most of the sunshine on the afternoon of Saturday, June 29, as they raised more than £800 towards funds for the life-saving piece of equipment.
As well as the newly-furbished playground, youngsters enjoyed a bouncy castle, face-painting, jewellery-making and a beat-the-goalie competition.
Meanwhile, parents looked around the craft stalls and tried their luck on the tombola and the raffle.
The sizzling temperatures of one of the hottest days of the year so far also meant that it was just the day for alfresco eating and the popular barbecue was a great success. As temperatures rose so did the sales of Pimms, mocktails and ice cream.
The idea of a defibrillator was first mooted by local villager Tom Drayton as a potential life-saving measure.
The idea was soon adopted by the parish council and the summer fair is one of several fundraising measures that have been put on to raise the cash.
