A NEW music festival for all the family will be launched in Malton later this month.

Meadowfest aims to combine the town’s food credentials with some of the area’s best musicians for the day-long event on Saturday, July 20.

Headlining the festival will be Levi Roots and his Reggae Band, who appeared at the Malton Food Lovers Festival two years ago.

Set in the garden of The Talbot hotel, the family-friendly event will run from 10am to 10pm and will include local musicians, including Beth McCarthy, Flat Cap Carnival and Grand Old Uke of York.

The event will also feature some of the region’s best street food stands, arts and children’s entertainment and a festival bar.

Tom Naylor-Leyland, festival director, said: “We know from the success of our annual Food Lovers Festival that visitors to Malton love to get their dancing shoes on – with our 2017 Festival seeing hundreds of music lovers dancing in the streets to Levi Roots and his Reggae Band.

“Therefore, it was only right that our dear friend Levi should make a return to launch Meadowfest, our first dedicated music festival, which aims to be one of the UK’s best boutique music festivals.”
