A NOVICE runner has raised £900 for Ryedale Carers Support in memory of her dad.

Kate Farrell, decided to run the Kirkbymoorside 10k in memory of her dad, Allen Davison who died 10 years ago on the day of the run.

She said: “For those of who know me they’ll know I am not a runner - far from it - but I feel I wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps and support the local community and raise money for Ryedale Carers Support, a charity that did a lot for my dad and that mum is now very much involved with.”

Claire Hall, from the charity, said: “Ryedale Carers Support supported Allen during his illness by matching volunteers who had similar interests.

"The volunteer would spend time with Allen, taking him out onto the moors which he loved and at the same time giving his wife Liz a short break from her caring role.

"This was a real challenge for Kate – but she did it.

"Ryedale Carers Support would like to thank Kate for making such a huge effort on our behalf we are so very grateful to her for raising such a fantastic amount of money.”
