A MAN has been rescued from rocks at Whitby after his leg became impaled on a lobster pot.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service the 29-year-old man was on rocks near West Pier when he slipped and he became impaled on a broken lobster pot between rocks.

A spokesman said crews used cutting equipment to remove the man from the rocks and a small crane being used by local building contractors was used to carry him to a place of safety for treatment by ambulance crews.
