A GROUP of students from Malton School are holding an auction night to raise money for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Ecuador.
The group of Daniel Hill, Hannah Lamb, Lily Mann Benn, Katie Williamson and Matthew Ireland, all Year 10 pupils, are planning their trip for July 2020.
Daniel said: “We will spend a month in Ecuador where we will visit parts of the Amazon rainforest and help to replant it. We will also travel to beaches on the Pacific and take part in picking up litter to clean the oceans.
“Furthermore we will spend time in remote villages in the Andes mountains where we will help build schools and improve their sanitation and services. We believe this is a great opportunity for us and we are trying our best to achieve the funds we need to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity.”
The group are holding the auction night on Saturday, June 8, in the west wing hall of Malton School, with doors opening at 6.30pm.
They will be selling items such as cinema vouchers and meals out, and also offering to provide services like a car wash or babysitting.
The entry is £7.50, which will include a light supper at the interval. Tickets for the auction night can be purchased at Malton School reception or at the door on the night.
There will also be entertainment provided by other Malton School pupils at the interval.
Daniel added: “All of the funds raised on the night will go towards the costs of our trip in July 2020.”
