FIRE services have helped free five people who were trapped in a lift in Ryedale.
A crew from Easingwold station was called out to the scene in Ampleforth yesterday evening.
A fire spokesperson said that the initial call came in from the trapped people at 5.08pm, and it was confirmed they were out at 6.03pm.
The five were trapped in the lift car itself, they added.
The fire crew used "small tools" to get the lift open and free the people.
