EVENTS are taking place in North Yorkshire next week to mark Dementia Action Week.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue is hosting a coffee morning at the Milton Rooms in Malton, from 10am to 4pm, on Wednesday, May 22. Alzheimer’s Society will be running two public Dementia Friends sessions as part of the event at 11am and 2pm.

A Dementia Friends session will also be held at Pickering Library on Thursday, May 23, at 5.30pm.

Linda Haggie, area manager for Alzheimer’s Society in North Yorkshire said: “We all have a role in Ryedale to help create a dementia-friendly generation, changing the way people think, talk and act about dementia. There are currently around 2.8 million Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends in the UK, 1677 of which in Ryedale.

“Alzheimer’s Society is determined to make sure no-one with dementia has to face a future alone. We are here to support anyone affected by dementia and it can start by finding a local event near you this Dementia Action Week. Unite with us now at alzheimers.org.uk/DAW.”
