A GANG of men and women racially assaulted two men in Scarborough.

North Yorkshire Police said the incident happened at about 4am on April 6, in St Thomas Street, Scarborough, but details had only just been released to the media.

A spokesman said a group of men were approached and assaulted by another "group of around five or six people, men and women", and "two victims, both local men aged 19 and 21, sustained minor facial injuries during the assault".

He said: "We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"In particular, we are appealing for information from anybody who saw the incident, was involved in it or knows the identity of those involved."
