A NEW pedestrian crossing is to be installed in Pickering by North Yorkshire County Council.
The crossing in Malton Road was part of the original planning for the development of the Mickle Hill retirement village.
County Councillor Greg White, who represents Pickering, said he welcomed the decision to proceed with the work.
“This crossing has been a long time coming, he said.
“The decision to finally go ahead follows relentless pressure from local residents, Pickering Town Council, the local MP and myself.
“I hope this new crossing will be seen as good news for pedestrian safety.”
