A 'DUMPER' truck is on fire on the eastern outskirts of Ampleforth.
Fire and police services are in attendance.
A police spokesperson said that reports of a car on fire were received by police at 11.15am, east of the village of Ampleforth, between the village and Oswaldkirk.
"The vehicle is described as a commercial dumper," they said.
Fire and police are currently in attendance and highways services have been contacted due to debris on road.
Police said that motorists are urged to avoid the area to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.
They added that no injuries have currently been reported.
