CHILDREN in Norton now have upgraded play equipment to enjoy thanks to a funding boost.
Norton Town Council has provided a significant upgrade to the play provision at King George’s Playing Field, thanks to S106 developer funding.
King George’s is predominantly open space and a football field, but there is an area designated to children’s play, together with a sports court.
“We are a bit limited on space, but we had to find a way of improving the play provision within the confines of the existing boundaries,” said Tim Hicks, the town council’s deputy clerk.
“We also noticed that we had a swing and a slide, but we were missing other essentials, including a roundabout and a see-saw.
“We gave installers the brief based on these facts and one of the companies came up with a wheelchair accessible roundabout.
“This was selected as the preferred scheme, which, in addition to the roundabout and see-saw, also includes a wave rider, a child’s sit on bike and two new pieces of gym fitness equipment.
“We have also had a new HD CCTV system installed to protect the park.
“The scheme is now open for the public to enjoy.”
