PEOPLE affected by dementia or worried about their memory are being offered the chance to access a new advice service at the Derwent Practice in Norton.

It will be run by Alzheimer’s Society, following the success of a similar service offered in Filey, Scarborough and Whitby.

The service will offer access to a dementia support worker who will be able to support people with dementia and their loved ones with any issues and concerns they may have.

Dementia support worker Deborah Senior said: "People affected by dementia often don’t know who to talk to about their concerns or how to access the support that is available to them.

"This service is about offering an accessible service to people with dementia, their carers and people worried about their memory. The staff are able to signpost to a range of support services in the area as well as provide a listening ear. No concern is too small, we are here to help.”
