THE A169 between Pickering and Whitby has been closed "for some time" following a "serious crash".
A police spokesperson said: "We’re currently at the scene of a one vehicle collision on the A169, Saltergate, reported to us at 1.45pm.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision."
The force tweeted that a diversion is in place via the A170 and A171.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Services also tweeted:
Crews from Whitby and Goathland are on scene at a single vehicle RTC on the A169 near to RAF Fylingdales, please avoid the area if possible.

The police spokesperson added: "Anyone who has any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and pass information to the Force Control Room.
"Please quote reference NYP-19032019-0246 when passing on information."
