PICKERING Rotary recently held their annual fundraising event at the Spice 4 U restaurant in Pickering.
The event was well-supported with about 140 guests sampling an array of Indian dishes.
There were a number of raffles throughout the day with the star prize being a ride and photo shoot in a Dukes of Hazard General Lee 7.4 litre Dodge Charger, courtesy of Steve Mead.
Altogether £2,000 was raised for the Scarborough branch of the Samaritans, who cover the whole of the Ryedale area.
Sue Harris, president of Pickering Rotary Club, said: “I am delighted that this year the Samaritans are our chosen charity.
“They do fantastic work for something that affects all ages, and all sections of our local communities.”
Libby Lorton-Gilbert, director of Samaritans of Scarborough, said: “We are extremely grateful to Pickering Rotary Club and Spice 4U for raising this most generous amount, which will go a long way towards our £30,000 annual target, needed to keep our service active in the Scarborough and Ryedale areas. Thank you so much.”
