A RISING teenage triathlete has been given a boost by a new sponsorship deal from North Yorkshire firm.

With a natural talent for sports, including running, Jack Mudd-Bowes, 15, from Barton-le-Street, had competed in six triathlons across the region.

His mum Sue said: “His first race, he came 11th out of 86 so we were just blown away. But he has been at a huge disadvantage as he only had a mountain bike not a road bike.”

Noise monitoring specialists Cirrus Research heard about the situation and stepped in to help with a new competition road bike.

“We can’t wait to see how Jack does this season,” Sue added.

“We hope the bike will make a big difference to his overall placings.”

Jack’s commitment and success so far has also inspired his younger sister Sophie to take up the sport. Sophie, 8, completed her first triathlon in York aged only 7 - and came second.

“I would like to say thank you to Cirrus for the support and interest in my achievements.” Jack added.
