A MALTON art gallery is receiving international attention due to its latest canine cafe concept.
The Animal Art Gallery in Finkle Street launched its dog cuddle cafe a few weeks ago in celebration of Malton being named “dog friendliest town in the UK”.
The gallery’s cafe area is always open to pooches, but one Sunday per month there will be eight dogs available to welcome patrons.
The quirky idea has created a bit of a stir, and even prompted a visit from a team from South Korean news agency KBS, which dropped in to the cafe before heading on to cover Crufts.
Thalia Counsell, the cafe’s co-owner, said: “We got an email through saying they’re interested in our art gallery and cuddle cafe, so they’ve come here to see what we do and meet some of our resident dogs.”
