A NEW extension has been officially opened at Settrington All Saints Primary School.

The building was opened by Sue Marklew, who retired last year after having been the school cook for more than 30 years.

Head teacher Mari Palmer said: “The staff and children are so happy with our new space, which is used by Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children.

“They have a fantastic outside space and lots of room to play and learn.

“Our new cook, Kate Ellis, now has a fabulous modern kitchen in which she can serve all the children lovely hot meals every day rather than having to get them shipped in as we did during the building project.

“I am very pleased with the end result having waited for this to happen for a fair few years.”
