Through costume, literature and anecdote, Lucy brought the period, in all its facets, to life, taking members back to a time when women could be arrested, and deported, for simply being “ungovernable”. The presentation was once again followed by a delicious supper. Later this month members will enjoy their annual dinner at the Moors Inn and the next meeting, on March 27, is a visit from Wack’s Wicked Plants of Scampston, who will share their collection of RHS Chelsea gold award winning carnivorous plants.
