CAN any of our political experts tell me why an MP is allowed to resign from the party that they were elected by their constituents for and continue in Parliament as independents?
If they had stood as independents in the first place they might have not been elected. Why should they still be allowed to be in Parliament and still draw a salary when they no longer follow the party line?
Voters usually vote for a party’s manifesto, not the personal views of the person standing - although in view of the recent shambles where MPs have ignored the wishes of their constituents I am not so sure...
