POLICE are appealing for information about suspected badger baiters after "extensive damage" was caused to a sett near Thornton-le-Dale.
In a message on the community messaging system, police said that it is an offence to damage or interfere with a badger sett and "North Yorkshire Police will fully investigate offences of this nature.
"Offenders may be prosecuted."
The damage to the sett on land near to Willow Grange Farm, Hurrell Lane, was caused on February 5.
North Yorkshire Police are seeking anyone who witnessed this offence or with information to come forward.
