PUPILS at Langton Primary School have celebrated an increase in numbers by renaming their classes.

The school has seen a rise in children from 70 to more than 90 leading to a reorganisation of classes and the appointment of an additional teacher.

Head teacher Rachel Ray said: “We are delighted with the increase in the number of pupils who are coming to Langton Primary School.

“As we wanted to keep the class sizes small, we decided to increase the number of classes from three to four.

“We also decided to take the opportunity to rename the classes and opted for local rivers - Derwent, Foss, Ouse and Rye.

“The children and staff are very happy with the new class names and we are thrilled to welcome the new pupils.”
