SIGHT Support Ryedale has received £250 from The Victory Mark in Pickering.

The charity, which is based in Norton, supports blind and partially-sighted people living in Ryedale.

It provides social groups, activities, excursions, opportunities for friendship and peer support.

Peter Illingworth, master of The Victory Mark, Pickering, said: “I am extremely pleased to present a cheque to Sight Support Ryedale, on behalf of The Provincial Mark Charity of North and East Yorkshire. We have every confidence that this donation will be put to good use.”

Julie Atkinson, service manager, said: “We are delighted with this generous donation from the Victory Mark, Pickering.

“These funds will be used to support our summer walking group. The walks take place in areas of the countryside and local villages around Ryedale.

"Having sight loss, and limited public transport in our rural area, it is difficult for our sight impaired members to enjoy a pleasant country walk independently.

"We very much appreciate the support of the Victory Mark which enables us to continue to deliver safe and appropriate outings for our members.”
