DALBY Forest will be host to a special 10k race in May.

The woodland is one of the locations in the Forestry Commission’s Forestry 100 running series, a programme of 19 races which are being put on to mark the organisation’s centenary year.

On Sunday, May 19, Dalby Forest will be hosting its Forestry 100 event - described as “The Rugged One”.

The terrain in Dalby Forest is very dramatic and rugged. With climbs, descents, viewpoints and hidden trails, the 10km route is an off-roaders’ paradise.

To celebrate the launch, Forestry Commission England asked runners across the country to share their forest running experiences in their own words.

Laura Hutchings, 35, said: “Running brings me lots of joy but there is something extra special about the forest. The smell of pine trees and the fallen leaves as my feet trample on them is intoxicating.

"Never knowing what animals are going to appear in my pathway leaves me excited for their company. The forest is my escape.”

Forestry 100 Running series events are organised in partnership with Nice Work.
