A VILLAGE church is getting ready to welcome to “Gentlemen of English National Opera” this weekend.
Now in its 10th year, OPERA@Wykeham will see David Newman, Paul Sheehan, Michael Burke, Andrew Tinkler and Simon Haynes, all singers with the English National Opera, and other companies, perform at St Helen and All Saints Church in Wykeham.
The concert will take place on Saturday, January 19, with drinks at 6.30pm, followed at 7pm by the concert.
The church, which is renowned for its acoustics, will resound to this professional group of singers performing a variety of arias from operas, such as La Boheme, the Magic Flute, Rigoletto, Don Giovani, Paul Bunyan, and the musical theatre, including West Side Story, Show Boat, Yes Sir That’s My Baby and Old Man River.
Tickets are priced £16 and are available from box office by emailing pa@dawnay.co.uk or phoning 01723 866600.
All funds will support the church at Wykeham, which includes the restoration of the 1910 pipe organ.
