A CHRISTMAS Tree Festival, which took place in Kirkbymoorside Methodist Church, has raised £1,183 for charity.

The festival included 40 trees representing aspects of daily life in the town, including businesses schools, charitable organisations and church groups.

Kath Hall, one of the organisers, said: “Our grateful thanks go to all who contributed in any way to the Community Christmas Tree Festival held in the Methodist Church in Kirkbymoorside. There were numerous favourable comments from the many visitors and the wonderful sum of £1,183 shared equally between Ryedale Special Families and Kirkbymoorside Junior Band, shows how much it was appreciated, valued and enjoyed.

Lisa Keenan, chief officer for Ryedale Special Families, said: “We are delighted to benefit from this event. It was great fun making our decorations, thanks to the youth group and over 18s group who all helped.

“The combined Christmas trees looked fantastic.”

Jeanette Kendall, on behalf of the Junior Band, said: “Kirkbymoorside Junior Band is an amazing group of people who are doing what they can to raise funds for the new concert hall and scout hut.

“We have a long way to go so are sincerely thankful for the generosity. The trees looked fantastic.”
