RYEDALE Lions Club and its Santa Sleigh tour has had another successful year with residents donating just under £9,000 for local charities.
In the run-up to Christmas, the Lions visited some 30 towns and villages with door-to-door and town centre collections around Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley.
“It's been a magnificent team effort and a remarkable achievement. We can’t say thank you enough to all those who donated,” said Lions’ sleigh tour organiser, Brian Johnson.
The largest beneficiaries from this year’s collection will be three charities serving the Ryedale area - Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Ryedale Special Families and Sight Support which will each receive £2,000.
The Lions will share the rest of the money among other local charities and good causes.
