FIREFIGHTERS were called out after a portable gas heater caught fire in a garden in Kirkbymoorside at the weekend.
Crews from both Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley fire stations responded to reports of the blaze in the front garden of a residential property in Old Road at 8.30pm on Saturday.
Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish, as well as a thermal imaging camera to check for further hotspots.
They extinguished the fire but the heater was totally destroyed, said a spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
