A NEW care home in Helmsley is to make a donation towards the town's Christmas light fund.

The Housing & Care 21 development on Ashwood Close will donate £1 to the Helmsley Christmas lights fund for every viewing booked at its Bransdale View show home before Christmas.

Housing and care manager Andrea Brazil said: "These kinds of events are so important for bringing the community together."

Katie Atkinson, deputy chair of Helmsley in Business, said: “We’d like to pass on our gratitude to Housing & Care 21 for their kind donation to the Helmsley Christmas lights fund. Over the last six years, Helmsley in Business has raised over £10,000 to make sure Helmsley shines brightly during the festive season. It’s fantastic that local organisations and residents in the town can work together to make every Christmas the best ever - it sums up the wonderful community spirit here."

The home was visited on Friday by Helmsley town crier David Hinde following the Helmsley light switch-on. He added: “The Christmas light switch on, which was followed by the preview evening of Helmsley’s annual Christmas tree festival, is always a great start to the festive season."

The Bransdale View extra care scheme provides independent living for people over the age of 55 with access to on-site care.
