INSPIRED by the properties of clay, Kunsthuis Gallery presents work from 14 UK and International Ceramicists for its final exhibition of the year - Shades of Clay 2018.

The residency of Shades of Clay 2018 will be a body of works exploring the challenges and versatility of clay as a sustainable, functional and universal medium.

The ceramicists analyse the dialogues of form and surface, each through their own practical experimentation using a variety of techniques to create methods of manipulating materials and surfaces.

Artists exhibiting include Drew Caines, Cian Radcliffe, Richard Smith, Jane Loveday, Kate Kirk, Laura Hancock, Tara Squibb, Emma Finch, Laura Lightbody, Kyra Mihalovic, Anna Donovan, Evelyn Pang, Stathis Dimitriadis and Laura de Benedetti.

KunstHuis Gallery opened in 2014 by curator and artistic director Cecile Creemers in the village of Crayke.

Originally from the Netherlands, Cecile, a former graphic designer, taught art classes, curated exhibitions and creative holidays before relocating with her family to the UK.

Cecile has led Kunsthuis from strength to strength, with the gallery gaining recognition as a venue for showcasing and selling contemporary art in the region. The gallery has also been nominated and shortlisted twice as finalists in the ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ White Rose Awards for Arts & Culture in 2016 and 2017.

Featuring a range of work by prolific British & International professionals, demonstrating an assortment of mixed media. Kunsthuis brings a varied selection of work to Yorkshire, dedicated to innovative developments in contemporary art through a diverse and vibrant programme of exhibitions.

Shades of Clay 2018 complements Kunsthuis contemporary exhibition (our) eARTh 2018 which is a body of artists reflecting and responding to the Environment and Climate Change .

The exhibition runs until Sunday, December 23. The gallery is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm. A Christmas late night shopping event will take place on November 30, December 7 and 14 until 8pm.
