YOUNGSTERS from across Ryedale have been raising funds for Children in Need.

At Lady Lumley’s School in Pickering the sixth form students organised the events, which included wearing pyjamas, a sixth form quiz and a “Gunge the Teacher”. They also held a staff versus students netball match.

Kirkbymoorside Primary School pupils dressed up in movie or game character costumes with crazy hair, while Year 6 pupils baked cakes and held a bake sale.

Everyone did a sponsored sing for 30 minutes and the running club did a sponsored mile.

Each class also did a competition and found Pudsey in the woods.

Norton College students and staff took part in a week of events, culminating in an non-uniform day, which raised £1,318.44.

Pupils and staff at Terrington Hall came into school wearing funky headgear, as well as running a cake stall, raising £350.

Pickering Junior School raised £395.06 with children and staff wearing their pyjamas to school.

They also had a non-stop dance-a-thon, a car wash and a bake sale.

Children at Swinton Pre-School took part in a day of fundraising events.

The youngsters baked Pudsey biscuits and sold them to their parents and also paid a small fee to dress up in their favourite dress up clothes.

Jeannie Smith, from the pre-school, said: “They were so proud to make a total of £33 at the end of the day.

“It was a good exercise in fundraising for the children who really took on board not all children are as fortunate as them, this spurned them on to do something. We are so proud of them.”
