A STABLES in the North York Moors has held the final in its Saracen Horse Feeds dressage championship.

Beckside Livery Stables, based at Sneatonthorpe, near Whitby, held the finals of its autumn series last week.

Cara Shardlow, manager of the stables, said: “We had a lovely day for the final and some nervous competitors as the points championship was very close in some sections.”

The runaway winner in both junior sections was Bethany Thompson on her younger pony Cadlanv Alley Atlanta.

Cara said: “She rode some beautiful tests, beating a lot of the adults to gain her lovely prizes generously donated by Saracen Horse Feeds.”

The Intro class was won by Vicci Smith again. She was unbeaten all series to gain her top spot on her new ride Spartacus.

Second place went to Katherine Rollinson and third went to Linda Winspear.

Cara said: “The next two sections were a bit more nail biting.”

In the Prelim section, Jayne Tompkins was in the lead going into the last day - but some tension in her test dropped her to second place.

This left Katherine Rollinson on her Welsh pony Hillgarth Bits and Pieces to take the win in the championship. Third went to Katherine Rayment.

Once again it was a real swing around in the PYO class.

Vicci Smith had been in the lead up to now but Katherine Rayment found her form again to produce what cara described as “a lovely polished test” to clinch the win.

Second place went to Vicci Smith and third place was Jayne Tompkins.

Cara added: “Thank you to all competitors. It’s been a great autumn series and hope to see you all back in the spring.”
